  1. Sure they can. All they need is someone smart, funny, and willing to stick to their line regardless of challenges from the other side of the issue. They just haven't found the right person.

  2. Because most liberals would rather read a book or do something productive than listen to some idiot on the radio.

  3. Hate is entertaining.

  4. not to be sexist, but its because they always get these women, and they just don't draw the same kind of passion in voice alone as men do. Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, etc. And the men they get are stereotype high voiced men who didn't get laid until lately. Most liberals aren't like this, but unfortunately, some are. They do need white men with good announcing voices, particularly someone who can do sports. A sports voice is whats good for talk radio. As much as I think Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, both are asses, but still have an awesome talk voices, which is why they succeed.

  5. They tend not to use doctored jargon mispeakes.

  6. I think it's their platform and unrealistic views.

  7. Liberals are losing the newspaper and tvnews battle also! How long can you watch read listen to a show about nothing. Unless it is Seinfeld of course

  8. Lots of reasons.

First, conservatives are mostly older people who listen to the radio more than progressives

2nd, that Howard Stern always brought up, $$$$$. Rush would basically give his show away and get on 500 stations. Howard wanted to be paid, and couldnt keep pace.

Here in NYC, AirAmerica is dead, but they have Ed Shultz on for one reason and one reason only- he gave them the show, all the other progressive shows, the local station could NOT AFFORD

  9. i dont know

  10. There are several progressive talk radio shows doing very well.  Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, and Randi Rhodes all do very well financially and have grown in the number of stations carrying them around the country.  Will they ever have the saturation of markets that many of the conservative shows have?  No.  Simply because people like Rush and Hannity are owned by very powerful conservative telcom companies who saturate the market with his show.  Sometimes even placing his show in competition with itself inside of larger markets.  For example someone like Ed Schultz is heard in about 120 markets around the US.  Rush is carried in over 600 markets.  The difference?  Rush is owned by a huge conservative telecom company with monopolistic ownership of radio, TV, and newspapers.  Ed Schultz show is owned by Ed Schultz.

  11. because no one wants to hear someone whine, *****, moan about their own country for 3 hours. thats why libs can't make it on talk radio.

  12. Because they are always negative about things. Take going green for example. They will say the world is going to end, and we have to stop using cars and light bulbs.

How does Conservatives talk about it. Rush will promote good products like tankless water heaters, which are good for the environment and for your wallet bu reducing the high cost of heating water. Sean Hannity will promote GM automobiles as they have the highest number of cars that get over 30 mpg and makes people a where of not having to compromise  car size for efficiency.

Typically most people do not like complainers. You have to offer hope. The last two elected democrats Kennedy and Clinton spoke of hope not negitive and it worked.

  13. Because, the leftist message is one of hate and defeat. That doesn't draw beyond the very bottom tier of society and the bottom tier does not buy advertising unless it is an NGO with the leftist agenda.

  14. because they talk sense, not smack and ****

  15. "Private capital tends to become concentrated in few hands, partly because of competition among the capitalists, and partly because technological development and the increasing division of labor encourage the formation of larger units of production at the expense of smaller ones. The result of these developments is an oligarchy of private capital the enormous power of which cannot be effectively checked even by a democratically organized political society. This is true since the members of legislative bodies are selected by political parties, largely financed or otherwise influenced by private capitalists who, for all practical purposes, separate the electorate from the legislature. The consequence is that the representatives of the people do not in fact sufficiently protect the interests of the underprivileged sections of the population. Moreover, under existing conditions, private capitalists inevitably control, directly or indirectly, the main sources of information (press, radio, education). It is thus extremely difficult, and indeed in most cases quite impossible, for the individual citizen to come to objective conclusions and to make intelligent use of his political rights." -- Albert Einstein, from his essay Why Socialism.

  16. Because their ideas are based on misinformation, and lies. If you check, Rush has an independent firm hired to test his show for accuracy. I think he said he's right ninety eight point something percent of the time. Liberals can't do that.

  17. because nobody wants to hear their drivel

  18. Because their ideas are so counter to the US Constitution they can not defend them .

  19. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with Stephanie Miller, Randi Rhodes, Rachel Meadow, Mike Malloyd, and Dennis Hartmen; all on Talk Radio and or Air America. Their ratings are high, and their message very successful with the inspiration of bring out the truth on talk show host such Rush (Pig Man), Hannity (Man Crush on Obama) and Ann Colture (The stick with an adams apple).

  20. Because liberals like pretty pictures.

  21. Because no one believes them thus no audience and no advertisers

  22. As Dave87gn pointed out, talk radio tends to appeal to a demographic that is more likely to be older, as well as blue collar, more rural and less likely to be college educated.  NOTHING wrong with any of those characteristics (thank goodness for those unafraid to get their hands dirty!), but overall these are perceived as leaning more toward conservative values (think of the "NASCAR dad" voting bloc that was mentioned early in Obama's campaign).  Conservative talk radio would have a natural audience for this group, and in the crafts/trades it is more acceptable to listen to talk radio while working.  If you're older and retired, you may also have more time to listen to the radio.

Other media - such as Internet radio and satellite radio - have spawned liberal pundits, but there are two factors to consider.  One is that these listeners tend to be younger, more affluent and with more formal education, which mitigates the techno-hurdles and cost of entry to getting access to these channels of communication.  A second factor is that these media do not show up with successful ratings, as there is not an established system such as the ones used for traditional broadcast radio.

On the other hand, there are those who feel that National Public Radio (NPR) broadcasts nothing but liberalism, and that network seems to have fairly good ratings and a loyal following.  Of course, it does so with government support, in the form of direct funding and tax breaks for its underwriters.

  23. Their points usually don't make sense.  They are proved wrong all the time.

  24. Because the company that owns most of the radio stations in the United States gets very protective about the man they helped put into office:

"The outdoor advertising arm of notoriously conservative Clear Channel has banned signs for "Songs of the Bushmen" because the cover depicts the president with a bone through his nose. "Their tone turned from genial salesperson to angry schoolmarm - 'This is unacceptable,' " Shearer, the voice of Mr. Burns and Flanders on "The Simpsons," told Page Six. "And it's not like this is a dangerous time to criticize George Bush.""

  25. Americans that listen to talk radio are usually are more intellectual than TV watchers,They dont care to listen to boring liberals who really have nothing to say good about this great country

  26. They just aren't entertaining.  They are strident and bitchy and don't really appeal to anything humans can relate to.

  27. Because nobody wants to hear bullsheet on their way home from work!
