  1. I disagree. The V.A. hospitals serve a vital purpose. True enough, there have been scandals and mismanagement. But the same is true for many school systems. The answer isn't to do away with them. They should be operated and maintained in the manner they were created for. Swapping over to a private system would only increase cost, another drag on an already ailing system.

  2. that's the best idea I have heard on here in days...they really do s***w the soldiers over big time...

  3. I say close them tomorrow at 5 oclock.....they got to go

  4. Not in my experience. I have always been treated with the utmost respect. Have been seen within moments of my appointment time. Had specialist appointments in less than one month. Urgent care appointments within 24 hours, routine appointments within 2 weeks. The only problem I have is waiting time on the phone to make an appointment and I can live with that.

  5. I used to volunteer in them when the Vietnam War was winding down...they stunk...they had substandard treatment and they treated the guys with bare tolerance..not to mention the experimentation on the patients...its a shame....I agree...lets drop them and find some other way....

  6. Thumbs up to you. I totally agree. I apprenticed at a VA nursing home and the conditions were deplorable. We fine tuned our detail oriented training such as massages for poor circulation, clipping back the nails for those that couldn't etc...

These poor soldiers looked at me with such gratitude, as this was something they had never experienced. What a crying shame.

I continued to discover even greater disservice, this was the only facility I have seen a bed sore in someones backside big enough to put your fist in. The result of not turning a bed ridden patient for a GREAT period of time. I wish there was a way. These heroes deserve so much more.

  7. For many of us veterans, the Veteran's Administration Hospitals are the only hospitals we can  look forward to.  The

cost of HMOS and other insurance programs are out of the question.  Private insurance companies tend to have lawyers

paid to prevent services or else they can just go out of business leaving the insured holding the bag.   Leave the

only thing many of us veterans have for medical protection

alone...we are having enough problems holding on to our benefits as it is...!

  8. V.A. hospitals are great how ever the wait is long.

some have small clinics witch they need more of
