Because most women don't want you to know their age if they are older. I'm not saying that its wrong to ask them but really what does it matter how old they are. I mean really the most important thing is knowing about the person rather than their age. In time if this person gets comfortable around you her age will eventually slip up. She will tell ya. A woman doesn't want most men to know their age especially if they look younger than they are. Like say for instance There was a woman she looked about her early 40's but was actually turning 50 something in a couple of weeks. Say she is single and she doesn't want any of the men that she has interest in to know her age because she wants them to like her for her not her age. She's afraid if they figure out her age then it might run them off. So anyways thats just an example but whatever the reason you must always RESPECT A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO WITHHOLD HER AGE IF SHE WANTS TO. If she doesn't want you to know RESPECT HER AND DON'T ASK AGAIN. hope this helps.

Because it's just such a stupid tradition.  Personally I don't care if somebody asks me my age.  We ought to be proud to be alive.

because they get offended or embarressed when they look a certain age but when there are really old

Why on earth is her age important to you, it's just a number it's what the person is like that matters, not a number.

You can, some would tell you and others well i don't know why. but people tend to look older than there age or younger than there age so it depends. In some instances a girl is in her 20's let's just say she looks like she is in 30's how would you tell someone she look like 30 and she's 20. She'll feel bad so i guess they rather not tell. Keep you guessing
