I've always been curious about why and hearing the man who almost got kicked off the flight because of hid dad was having heart trouble or something. It just made even more curious.

  1. The man wasn't kicked off the flight, he was arrested and ticketed when the flight landed.

The reason why you can't use cell phones on planes is because the cell signals can interfere with sensitive aviation communication systems. But I have heard that newer planes like the Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner are supposed to allow you to use cell phones while the plane is in the air. The real question is whether you really want to have people talking away on their phones in the enclosed space of an airplane.

  2. The excuse is that it interferes with the electronics of the plane.

In reality ,     IT IS DOWNRIGHT ANNOYING TO OTHER PASSENGERS.

  3. the waves coming nn going 4rm d mobile collide wiv dat coming nd going out d airplane. they could lose contact wiv d pple at d airport. not gd

  4. cell phones emit radio waves, which in worst case scenarios might interfere with the radio waves between the pilot and control towers (its a physics concept called "destructive interference)

  5. It can affect transmitions...I don't even think it will work at that altitude

  6. In the USA, it against Federal Regulations.  The airlines have nothing to do about it.

An airliner is basically a big aluminum tube with wings.  Cell phones constantly send out signals looking for cell towers when not in use.  Then of course, lots of signals when in use.  Multiply that by a hundred passengers using their phones.  Some of the signal strength will bounce around inside the cabin, wreaking havoc with aircraft communications and navigation.

Also possibly for security reasons.  Many people forget that terrorists used cell phones as detonators in the bombs that blew up Spanish trains several years ago.  Also, why make it easy for a group of terrorists to coordinate their movements on an airliner?

Mythbusters got it ALL wrong on their program about this one.

  7. mostly because the airlines say you cannot.   The reason being "interference with pilot instruments" which is false and a line they use.   But they are in charge so you have to follow their direction.

Besides that... who would want to sit next to someone yacking on the phone all the time?  I hope they NEVER permit it on planes.

  8. Interferes with their transmissions.

  9. because it messes with the wires on the plane and it can mess the plane up and other wires

  10. although I read somewhere that it's not true that cellphones affect airplanes. here's an article on the topic. http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=3964...

  11. I think you can now, it supposedly may affect certain Airplane functions.

  12. To be honest is just the law. As a pilot myself on private aircraft I have never asked any of my pax to turn off there phones. Alot ask me if they can make a call and guess what my answer is, Yes no problem. Darn I`ve even made a few myself while in flight and never have I seen anything change infront of me.
