  1. Currently we have four world championship tournaments sanctioned by the World-Pool Billiard Association held annually, The Men's World Championships, Women's World Championships, Junior World Championships for Boys and Girls and the Wheelchair Championships. So if you are suggesting that anybody can play any tournament he/she wishes to join, we can scratch all this world championships and hold one true tournament and we can call that tournament,"World Pool Championships for All-Human Beings", and the winner will be declared,'World All-Human Being Pool Champion'.

  2. Is that another name for the World Pool Masters?  When I looked it up, I was on the World Pool Championship website, but when I clicked on something about the players, I was on the World Masters site.  Anyway, if it's the same thing, women are allowed to play, because Jasmin Ouschan (sp?) is playing this year, or played already, and was the second woman to play in its 15-year history.

In general, though, women are allowed to compete in the tournaments.  I know Jeanette Lee plays in the Derby City Classic, and I'm sure there are lots of others who do the same thing.  And yes, perhaps women could be as skilled as men, but the fact is that they're not.  The top women cannot consistently beat the top men.  I really don't see a physical reason why not, but that's the way it is.

Now, if they wanted to have tournaments for only men, I'd have no problem with that.  I don't like the double standard that there can be women's tournaments in which men aren't allowed, but not the other way around.  I don't like college girls suing their schools because they're not allowed to play football.  If they want to play football, they need to round up their girlfriends and form a team (and try to get other schools to do the same thing :)  ).  I think there's nothing wrong with the men-only policy at Augusta.  If the male pool players did want to have their very own tour, that would be just fine. I imagine there are men who wouldn't want to play a woman and lose because they think it would make them look bad, and they should be allowed to compete without that worry if that's what they want (I've never heard that; I'm just guessing).  But, if the way it is right now is fine with them, it's fine with me, too.
