  1. In   1478   There was  a  Ferry  from  Spain  to  Ireland,  but it was  a  ruse,   Spain attacked  the  dum Irish  ,  sacked  the  Country  and  then over-charged  any  Irish-peeps  to use  the  Ferry for  a  Return Trip.   That was the  same  time  when  Ireland  had  a  Whiskey Famine.

  2. The companies that run the ferry services look at what routes have enough traffic volume on a regular basis to generate a profit.  If you have information that shows this could be a profitable route, check the website of the ferry company you favor for a "contact us" link and suggest it.   Others are likely to do the same.  When companies hear the same suggestion repeatedly, they will investigate to see if the market has increased enough to make the new route worthwhile.   Hope you're successful!

  3. Safety precautions would probably make it non-profitable.

Supposidly the Bay of biscay can be rough and too many cancelled sailings would kill any hope of making money

There used to be a ferry to cherburg but i dont know if thats still going.
