  1. Iceberg lettuce is mostly water.

It's not bad to give to your pets in small quantities, but it just has no nutritional value and too much of it can give your pet diarrhea. Darker, leafy vegetables like romaine lettuce have more nutrients in them, so they're healthier to give to your pets. People just say to avoid it because there's no reason to feed it to your pet when you could give them romaine lettuce, which is healthier for them and tastes just as good.

  2. because it   gives them the runs....dark lettuce, like the cos is OK but not alot in one go...

  3. Well, I guess it depends on what pet you have, but iceburg lettuce doesn't have the nutrients and vitamins for growth and development. I'm sure most rodents and reptiles could eat it every once in a while, but don't make it their only source of nutrition. Try feeding your pet fruits, dark greens, and veggies. (This also applies to human consumption of iceburg lettuce as well.)

  4. it can have lots of pesticides and chemicals on it that are bad for them.
