  1. No, your eyes don't pop out. That's an old wive's tale. The reason you close your eyes when you sneeze is an involuntary reaction. Like when you jerk your arm away when you touch something hot. And you close your eyes when someone makes like they're going to hit your face.

And actually, I have sneezed with my eyes open before. It's not hard (and my eyeballs are still in my head) you just have to remember to tell yourself to keep them open.

  2. its a natural reaction to close them

  3. because the muscle of the cheek retract to leave the nose clear up!! this is biologique to empty the nose...

  4. It is actually impossible to sneeze with your eyes open. They shut naturally because if (somehow) you managed to keep your eyes open they would pop right out of their sockets due to the pressure in your head when you sneeze!

  5. yeh mine popped out (not like literally, but tey moved forward a bit. it kinda hurt, acutally..)

  6. they might fall out, roll along the floor and create a hazzard for those who may be in close proximity with them! Yup, it's so you don't go slipping on your eyeball!

  7. There are a rare few who can keep their eyes open when they sneeze and for those that can't, your eyes will not pop out.

  8. because they'll pop out!

  9. no one can sneeze with their eyes open.  they shut naturally to prevent your eyes from popping out.

  10. Proven on Mythbusters (TV program, google it)

Your eyes DONT pop out when you sneeze with your eyes wide open!

    Its a Myth (aka: bullsh*t)

Its just a reaction really, maybe to stop any pressure on your eyes (if there even is any?)

  11. LOL!! that's a good one...i wonder that sometimes too. Don't know why...
