Why car's passenger mirror is far distance and driver side mirror is true distance?

Why when you watch from car's passenger mirror everything is far distance and when you are watching from driver side mirror everything is true distance?

  1. This is done to compensate for having to look across the car. Many times the pass. mirror is convex to give you a slightly wider field of view, also.


  2. Because the passenger mirror is curved to allow you to see a wider angle.

  3. because you are looking at it from a distance, i believe it changes the way you see it.

  4. It acts like a spot mirror and is that way for safety so that it will give you a wider view.
