Why car stereos have scan feature but tv's dont.?

because the scan feature is most useful when you're in different locations and need a quick way to find a good station.

Well, actually, this depends.  If you are talking about an antenna tv, then it is possible depending on what kind of tv you have.  Some models have an option in the channel or video menu called "channel scan" or "autoprogram" that will find existing and the best reception channel.  For cable or satellite tv, I dont see why you would need one.
