  1. my boat is fuel injected

  2. Most newer marine engines, both inboard and outboard, now  have electronic fuel injection to allow them to meet EPA emission standards.  This applies to both 2 and four strokes.  Mercury Opitimax motors use a direct fuel injection system.

  3. The cost of fuel injection is too high to warrant it.

  4. Fuel injected engine means more complexity (high pressure fuel pump, a computer, fuel injectors, o2 sensor, etc.)

So given that boat engines are NOT regulated for emission, they are opting for low price option.  But you are correct.  Fuel injector mean less trouble, more power, and less emission in the long run.

    Good Luck...

  5. It is possible to make a fuel injected boat, however, being that it is subjected to a higher concentration of moisture, a carburetor works better. the moisture can get into the electrical connectors and corrode the wiring causing a possible break down.

  6. because marine carbs are remarkably simple devices, and remarkably reliable in a harsh operating environment.

fuel injection has been available on outboards since the mid-90's.  Only a few carbed outboards are being made anymore.

  7. carburaetors are cheaper and stuff less regulations on those types of vehicles not really worth the extra money and effort to update to new fuel injection unless it came with it ; carbs are simpler but touchy and adjustable and Nitrous can be added with less headache...
