  1. EXCUSE MEE!!!!!! TODAYS WORLD RUNS ON COMMUNICATION SKILLS & TIME............IF U USE CARTS U WILL GET 1/4 OF U'R MONTHS SALARY :d

  2. I like horses, so I would enjoy that, but it's not very practical. In places that were originally designed with horses and foot transportation in mind, you could get around enough to make it work from that perspective, but newer cities, like mine, are totally dependent on cars and would have to be very thoroughly redesigned. I do think this should happen, actually, but more from a mass transit (and foot/bike) perspective than a horse perspective.

Also, even in older cities originally built to be horse friendly, most of the facilities that supported horses have been torn down or remodelled, so there'd be no place to house the horses, and I really don't think anyone wants to return to the days of having to watch your every step to avoid horse p**p. Plus, there's the issue of disposing of it all. You can compost it and add it to backyard gardens and farm fields if you have ready access to either, but that's still a h**l of a lot of p**p that has to be dealt with in sanitary ways, and it needs to be aged for a minimum of several months before it's safe to use on plants. And speaking of plants, you'd need either adequate pasture or grain to feed them.

Plus, there's the issue of humane treatment of the horses. Have you read Black Beauty? That's what a lot of horses will have to look forward to if we return to using them for transport, and pavement is really bad for their legs and joints.

No, if you want non-fossil fuel based transportation, bikes are better suited to today's world.

  3. There is going to be a shortage of animal feedstuffs.

Where do you suppose the horses could be stabled?

How would you manoeuvre horses round shopping centres, especially malls?

How would you overcome the problem of horse-droppings since the local councils wouldn`t have vehicles to remove them?

What about the rise in crimes of rustling?

Then there`s the added problem of more methane! would this not defeat the objective?

  4. their are over 200 million cars and trucks in America alone think of what that would mean in feed care shelter and p**p-I'm all for change but lets make it forward not reverse

  5. I think I'm one of the few who thinks it would be a great idea - real horsepower! and the smell of horse manure is a lot sweeter than exhaust fumes.

Animals have been around for a lot longer than cars, I'm sure there were no complaints about methane then.

For those who don't like, or can't have a horse, with or without a cart, there's always a bicycle.

  6. because it'd be mess of horse poo in the streets, you'd have to have a stable for your horse which won't work in the city, and if you want to travel from london to edinburgh your horse would be dead before you get there.

  7. I would nearly have said I love you, but I can't. It has been my dream for a long time to have a horse and cart. No cars, buses, bikes, and what have you, just horse and cart. It will take me hours to get to work, but it seems so fantastic! Too fantastic  to become reality. There wouldn't be next day deliveries for my on line purchases and what's life without that? Therefore,  I carry on with my daily 10 mins walk-train-tube-15 mins walk and reverse in the evening, but I will keep my H & C fantasy alive.

  8. In fact you are wrong - you would still need to replace tyres, make repairs - all the components would still need to use fuel or resources to make them work.

Also - horses and cows emit more emissions by way of methane than a car produces carbon in a year.

I suggest we all have cows and plug a pipe into their butts and have methane tank refills for free.

  9. that is so unfair to the horse.  you must hate animals

  10. Every thries getting to London from Birmingham in time for a 1.00pm meeting without having to book two or three hotels, three days in advance.  Put your brain in gear and think things through......

  11. Not that much better for the environment actually, not least because of all the horse p**p thats generated.

Where do you suggest people keep their horses in a world with increasingly short on living space.. people in high rise flats for example, or people in places with no grass.

How does a large family get around with one horse.

  12. One of the main benefits of the vehicle stated when they came out was its environmental benefits.   No more horse c**p clogging the streets.   I don't have room for a horse, but do have room for a bike.   What's wrong with using one of those?   More people should get their fat rears on a bike; then they might not be so fat.

  13. Judging by your spelling you must a 10 year old trying to act like a 13 year old teenager .

At your age we were all trying to change the world but I am afraid its not practical in this day and age. so be a realist and grow up and face up to the fact that cars and trucks are here   for good and that you cant turn the clock back thank goodness.

I for one would hate to live back in the 1920s in to days world we live in a world although not perfect is alot nicer than living in the early part of the last century.

So think yourself lucky  to live in this progressive world with all its modern gadgets and the strides that we have made in health, wealth, and higher standards of living and enjoy what we older people have worked to give you all the benefits you now have

  14. Because mankind is all about keeping up with the Jones'.  Many people I know like to joke about the Amish, but I agree with you, our world would be much better off.  God bless...

  15. Sorry, I am afraid you are living in the past.  What is done cannot be undone.  Horses were fine in their day when the pace of life was slower. Now - sadly - they are redundant as work horses and get in the way.

It`s all very sad, and even scary, but that is the way it is.
