Why come the radio doesn't like putting political music on the airwaves?

I noticed among radio stations that there's been music made on world topics but they never wanted to give it play over the radio. Why do so many magazines, and television tell lies to society no matter what it's covering(topics). Some people say it's too preachy teachy. Do you find this to be true? If so, what's wrong with that? Everyone should obtain wisdom. I feel so.

  1. I agree with Jam 961 but will add that there are some politically motivated bands that are played but some of the heavier leanings may not be aired but I know in the Alternative world, the Groups Green Day and Rage against the Machine get a lot of air time with many of their politically motivated songs against the current presidency and post 9/11

For example sample "American Idiot" by Green Day that made number 1 on modern rock and "Guerrilla Radio" from Rage Against the Machine that won a Grammy and still has considerable airplay. (with lyrics such as referring to the 2000 elections "More for Gore, Or the son of a drug lord (referring the Bush) ... None of the above ******* cut the cord)

And for the record. Most newspapers and magazines in teh US cover what their readers want to read and that is US centric issues. Usually for my world news, I rather the Unbiasedness of the BBC on the issues in the world

  2. Perhaps I can shed some light on this subject.  Radio stations are basically in business to make money.  The best way to do that is to be as "Listener-Friendly" as possible.  They have to try to please all of the people all of the time.  As impossible as that may sound, it is a true fact.  If a station was to air something "politically motivated"  They stand the chance of upsetting a portion of their audience that may not agree with that particular political viewpoint.  No station wants to ever loose their audience, so they will usually try to stat politically neutral.  I hope this answer has given you an inside view into the workings of a radio station, and has answered your question.

    Take care.
