  1. society expects morality.  That no one should cause harm to another human being, or through his or her inaction allow harm to another. I know plagiarized however; what society should demand is honesty. this is the uniformity that humanity should aspire. every person IS an individual, always has been always will be.

  2. Society might in rely on predictability and uniformity i many ways but it also has an interest in producing people whon can think outside the box enough to be innovative and creative. If society was completely predictable and uniform in its contents(ie people) there would never be any social change.

On the other hand the amount of indivuality we have or dont have is stratified. Meaning the richer you are the more likely you are to have a professional job where you make decisions which are less regulated by red tape etc. And at the "bottom" of these strata where people are expected to work in more rationalised where they are expected to more predictable need to be convinced that they have the freedom to move from being a worker in mcdonalds to an executive. If it wasnt legitimised people would probably say **** this! and revolt.

Moreover i mentioned earlier that it is used to help reinvent and move society on.  People need to be able to think critically and individually to break with the norm. If there was no individuality though how would the womens movement or the LGBT movement start. If people in a factory only even followed that status quo it is likely that places like europe and america wouldnt enjoy the high standards of living we have today.

Really what im trying to say that it is necessary for all parties involved in society to have people around that can think individually or at least are led to believe that there indivaulity matters otherwise societies would change.

  3. the question almost anwsers itself. ideally most people would want a child who conforms to rules of society but is also creative. if society expects uniform and thus encourages it, through peer pressure, trends ect then it is the parents or carers who must encourage the inderviduality of the child so it can have creativity and stand out from the crowd when needed ie. job interviews. Although society might expect uniform it is the inderviduality in that society that helps it develope and without inderviduality we would not be where we are today.

  4. Because...if we all do what society expects, no progress is possible.

  5. Your question states the tragic truth. Those who do maintain their individuality, however, are the lucky ones.

  6. because ultimately we are all here alone on the planet.

our parents are only a via for us to be alive. they really have nothing to do with anything. better to be prepared to be an individual and look after yourself. even the other humans you meet in your life do not really have your best interest in mind.

man really is an island. expect nothing from anyone, and you will be free. and own nothing to anyone.

  7. To make them even more of an individualist. In a society such as ours ( assuming you live in United States ) we are given the chance to "be who we want to be" Give them that chance...

  8. Your question makes prefect sense but society doesn't expect every child to be uniform...a child should like differnet things, i mean maybe schools' except children to read but they don't except every child to read the same book or the same genre. Every child should be different of course but that child shouldn't be overly differnt! that child shouldn't be crazy differnet becuase then no one would want to be assoicated with that child

    hope this helps!!!

  9. Without uniform society cannot function but without individualism, society as we know it would be non-existent.

Encourage children never to be less then all they have to give and only then can great change occur.

  10. Someone has to break out of the matrix and save us!!!

  11. "Individuality is the state or quality of being an individual; a person seperate from other persons and possessing his or her own needs, goals, and desires."

Example, most of us aspire to be homeoweners.  This would be a normal thing, or uniform.  But each home is decorated and cared for differently.   If you go through life, trying to be "abnormal" yet longing to be "normal"(by your own perception of yourself), then you will continue to ask questions like these.

  12. So that your child will be his/her own person and stand out from the sheep.

  13. I don't believe in "convincing" a child to be anything other than their true selves.  Some "uniformity" is necessary in order to survive in our society (must obey certain rules of conduct) and a child's individuality will develop naturally, if allowed to.
