Why countries like china , japan Thailand Indonesia etc do not play cricket?

They do not play as cricket takes lots of time or it has less stamina game. or people of these countries are short in height to face bowls , or they do not find it interesting or what others reasons . what ICC should do to promote cricket in all other countries of world

actually , cricket is mostly famous in countries which have been ruled by britishers..........................beca... cricket was born in england.......so the countries which have been ruled by british ....have been playing cricket for a long time and now r good n famous ..............

countries like japan n china have just been introduced to cricket so they r not famous

icc has been doing a lot to promote iin these countries.......interesting laws have been made..........T20 is introduced

now i think ICC should organise matches b/w world XI and other teams.......and donate its revenue to some disaster ..or some calamity hit areas in countries like china n japan

this is one waay to promote cricket there

All the above countries play cricket and have their national cricket teams.  However, since the game of cricket has not yet come popular in these countries there has not been much development in infrastructure and as such they have not yet become a force in international level.

However, China have set the following targerts :

Have 720 teams across the country in a well-organised structure by 2009.

Have 20,000 players and 2,000 coaches by 2015

Qualify for the World Cup by 2019

Gain Test status by 2020.

Cricket originated from England. It was brought to the now cricketing nations by their British rulers. You will notice that all the top cricketing nations were under the British rule at some point in time. As far as other countries like China, Japan etc are, they were never ruled by the Britishers so Cricket did not reach them.

lack of awareness,  majority of them haven't even seen what cricket game is even in TV...  Also most of them regard sports as short game cricket takes hours or days to finish...
