  1. It is due to an apparent force called coriolis force. This is produced due to the rotation of the earth and deflects the wind to the right in the Northern hemisphere and to the left in the Southern hemisphere.

As a result of the coriolis force ,the law of the movement of air called Buy Ballot's law has been evaluated. As per this law,if an observer stands with his back to the wind, the low pressure is to his left in the Northern hemisphere and to his right in the Southern hemisphere. This simply means that  the wind moves keeping low pressure on its left in the northern hemisphere and to the right in the southern hemisphere. So ,when there is a low pressure area in the Northern hemisphere, the wind tries to move in an anti-clockwise direction so that the low pressure area(which is almost circular)always lies on its left .The opposite is the case in respect of the Southern hemisphere.

  2. It is because of the coriolis effect and the way the earth spins and it's tilt.

  3. It's because of the Coriolis Effect.  It's the same thing that causes water to go down the drain clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere, and counterclockwise in the northern.
