All green plants including grass contains a chemical called chlorophyll so that it can photosynthesise. During photosynthesis a plant takes in sunlight and CO2 to make food for it's self. Without Chlorophyll, a plant can't photosynthesise and won't live. that's why trees leaves are green.

The grass is green for several reasons, god decided that there wasn't enough green already and snotted all over the ground, also when he was painting the sun in the sky when the paint dropped on the floor the colours mixed together and made a green and he decided that the grass shall be green :D
