  1. Because Channel Seven have a contract with the AFL, and they must show the games they agreed to at the start of the year.

Channel 7's coverage of all sports is awful, it was the worst I've seen.

  2. I'm not from any of the organisations you mentioned, but in my opinion it was in keeping with the rest of Channel 7's awful effort of bringing us the Olympics.

How lucky are we that Channel 9 and Foxtel have London 2010?

Surely, they can't do a worse job than 7.

  3. because you guys are obsessed with football so they assumed you would prefer it over basketball

  4. I was in Sydney and we got to see the same repetitive news broadcast which was showing stuff for the 100th time that day instead of the Basketball finals..and then to add to it they decided to show highlights of the final quarter not even the full quarter...

just when I thought they could'nt do anything worse, they went on to say that Jimmy Paige was from The Who...

are these guys stupid or are they trying to go out of business?

  5. Because AFL is a better sport than anything on offer at the olympics.

  6. They cut to the nightly news where I'm from, right at the most exciting part of the match.  After the news they showed a 1-2 minute clip of the highlights of the rest of the game (yeah, like that really makes up for destroying one of the best Olympic basketball games of all time).

The reason is because they are the worst sports broadcasters of all-time.  I cannot recall a worse Olympic telecast than the appalling job Channel 7 did the last couple of weeks.

  7. Because they're a bunch of nobs

  8. All part of a ratings grab in my opinion, to try and push their news broadcast. BTW don't know where you were watching from, but in Melb it was cut for the news, which could have been delayed with noone caring.

8:13 remaining in the final quarter, USA up by only 2 points and then they show replays of all the rubbish they've been replaying all night. Come back from the news and they don't play the last 8 mins through, instead they show a rubbish highlights package of the 8 mins we missed. Must have saved them all of 6 mins of coverage time.

Worst effort I've seen for a long time.

  9. Obviously I don't know that situation being in Canada. But they probably had an obligation to carry the AFL game. I assume they paid good money for the rights, and advertisers paid good money for their ads to be aired. It appears to be poor scheduling by 7.

Was the basketball game picked up by whatever cable/specialty channel is airing the Olympics, Fox Sports, I think?
