Why did A&W close down almost everywhere in the world?

I was just in one yesterday, Hollister California, at the corner of South and East street. 95023.  The Root beer tastes the same as many years ago. It is an outdoor drive through, pretty neat, good food, but to be honest, fries are not what gets me there, Chile dogs do it for me!

I didn't realize they were closing down alot?, if anything there seems to be more here in canada then ever, Even have them attached to Gas stations as a Big stop, that's even a bigger deal than mcdonalds in Walmarts.

I'm happy to say that A&W is alive and well in Anchorage, Alaska ... with two outlets located in Chevron gas stations. Thanks for the tip on the coney fries! I'll try them ... I'm big on foot-long coney hot dogs, myself. Yum :-)

Dont really know why. They kinda went the way of the drive-in theater.

I did go to their site and it has a store locator and yep theirs one near me in Michigan.
