  1. Because: A young man from Sarajevo,Gavrilo Princip, killed the Archduke,Franz Ferdinand. Sarajevo wanted to be part of Serbia but Franz Ferdinand wouldn't accept it, as he was the leader of Austria-Hungary. Austria-Hungary was an empire and the laeder would not accept it as then the empire would fall apart so he had to decline and show that he thought he would be a good leader, he set out on a journey to Sarajevo. This was an oppertunity for the assasins.
