  1. Well...his salary does not add up to 250 million.....the figure is also based on Commission from Shirt sales, marketing, home game tickets, etc....He get a piece of the action on all that which can all add up to 250 million....

Aside from the Money aspect, when he did sign for the Galaxy, he was not featuring for Real Madrid mainly because Fabio Capello, then manager of R.Madrid, did not favour him that much. It wasn't after he signed with the Galaxy where Becks really began to shine and was one of the key players that got the club the La Liga Title that year.

But the offer from the Galaxy is very hard to say no to and I am sure his wife had something to do with him deciding to move to the states.

As for Figures.....the best players in the English Premier League, specifically the top clubs roughly earn over 100 thousand pounds a week...

  2. Even before this $250 million deal came about, David Beckham had expressed in past interviews and even in one of his books that he wanted to take on the challenge of raising the popularity of soccer in America. Since he's already in his 30's, I'm sure he wanted to fulfill this goal before he got too old instead of playing for another European team.

  3. So he can hangout with Tom & Katie and all his other celebrity friends. If he was only after the money he should've gone to the far east where he is adored. He ( and his wife) wanted the glamoure LA offers; football was just a plus.

  4. He left bcoz of he waned to get some money and also wanted to be famous in living in Hollywood.

  5. Its because of the size of the media in the u.s, beckhams image rights etc are worth lots but they are only worth as much as the size of the network they are being played in.

America was the perfect place for him to make more money as beckham was more than a footballer at that stage he was a media machine.

Ontop of that america has good weather, the glamour, lots of places to spend your money, English speaking, And also the ability to live in areas where other stars live making him able to live somewhat of a normal life against similar fashioned superstars.

The move was just perfect for him.

  6. I can think of 250 MILLION REASONS!

  7. Because they offered to pay him 250 million dollars for him to play with the L.A. GALAXY team here in california.

  8. $$$ and they want him to revolutionize soccer in America.

  9. At United Beckham would have been on about £100G ($200G) a week. Over 5 years that would equal about £26m ($52m). Real Madrid's pay would not have been greatly different.

So Beckham got to play in a much less competitive league where he didn't have to exert himself as much as in any of the European leagues and hang out with his celebrity pals while making about 5 times as much as he would had he stayed in Europe.

  10. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

  11. He wanted to be in the hollywood.

  12. for the ridiculous money that was thrown at him
