  1. He lost because other horses broke from the gate better than he did and they got in front of him and slowed down.  Big Brown could have accepted the dirt in his face and behaved and slowed down too, but instead he threw a temper tantrum.  The horse tossed its head around and tried to run through the horses in front of him.  The horse was mad about the horses being in front of him and wasted his energy so when he needed to run late in the race, his energy was already gone.  Furthermore, the horse's sire was a sprinter, meaning Big Brown is not bred to go a mile and a half... the sire stuck to races about half that length!

For all you people blaming Kent, please tell me what he did wrong.  I saw nothing that Kent could have done differently.  The horse threw a fit.  The horse lost that race, not the jockey.

  2. Came in last.

  3. Because were he raced they were allowed to inject him with Steroids..

You can only dope a horse so much before they break down

  4. Because that little man on his back was stupid and wouldn't let him run the way he wanted to.

  5. They said the same thing about Secretariat before the 1973 Belmont. The jockey on Big Brown seemed determined for the outset not to let him run and when he was in third despite this on the final turn made no effort to keep the horse from going 7 wide and didnt even apply the whip before pulling him up before in the stretch. This race does not pass the smell test and the questions will only get louder if Big Brown routs the field with another jockey in The Travers Stakes in August

  6. Because he didn't cross the finish line first.  I seriously don't think it was because he didn't have his steroid shot, because he didn't have it when he wont the Preakness.  He just didn't run like he usually does.  I don't know if it was the jockey's fault, or if he just didn't feel like running.  Nobody will ever know.

  7. If you watch his performance in the Derby and the Preakness, you will notice that this horse does not get dirt kicked in his face.  Big Brown's jockey even said after the Preakness that he made sure the horse didn't get dirt in his face since the horse had never experienced it before.  I think that when this horse finally encountered some trouble in the Belmont and had (oh no!) dirt in his face, he gave up.  This horse was not great, like those who actually won the Triple Crown, and had no fight.  The really great racehorses overcome adversity, instead of just quitting.

  8. There's an article featured on the Yahoo homepage that has the trainer pinning the blame on jockey Kent Desormeaux.

  9. 1) The heat bothered him

    2) Wasn't on steroids

    3) Looked nervous

    4) Owner blamed the jockey

    5) Jockey blamed the owner

    6) Came in last.

  10. I am a firm believer that kent Desormeaux's ride was the main cause for big brown not firing when they turned for home. For a horse that had shown a gear unlike one seen in quite some time to not go when asked we need to look for an answer.Easy to see how rank he was when kent stood on his back to pull him away from the rail. When big brown reared his head in frustration he was in my humble opinion saying son I came to run and your not letting me.So when kent asked him at the quarter pole Big Brown's response was nothing, oh now you want me to go well pal you'll have to figure this one out on your own.The best kent could come up with was to pull the proud colt up before he was done his run.Thoroughbreds are quirky creatures if they could only talk.Rick Dutrow said he was looking for something wrong and couldn't find anything. In a way he was being classes for not pointing to the hall of shame rider Kent Desormeaux.

  11. Because he hadn't been injected with his monthly steriod shot yet. He had nothing in the tank. All his other races were run a few days after his injections, and he was still hopped up on them.

I think ALL steriods should be illegal in all forms of compitition, whether it be animal, or human.

  12. the jocky froze.he couldn't handle the pressure i have watched this race for years and years and i have never seen a jocky panic like that.i think he didn't know what to do.he quit took his ball and went home.he is the only reason why they lost the race.the trainer went over big brown twice and couldn't find anything wrong.people can make exscuses for big brown all day long but at the end of the day the jockey didn't do his job.remember secratariot opened up a big early lead how come they wouldn't let big brown he could have done it.

And just to let you know in the beginning of the race the jockey was fighting with big brown trying to slow him down.big brown was trying to open up a big lead and take off but his d**n jockey wouldn't let him take off.so after fighting with the jockey big brown slowed down and would not take off again.then when the jockey was ready big brown said NO.

  13. cause the owners were either convinced or believe that big brown will be put out to stud if he does not improve his performance in any up comming races or work-outs.  :)

  14. Because their was a virus going around and big brown was getting treated for it. And when the race came up the shot was still making him better so he wasn't as fast as normal as u can tell.
