I mean what would have happened if he did leave?

Would they just have caught him in another country? And why did he want Saddam to leave Iraq within 48 hours?

  1. When did he say this? I don't recall.

Anyway, President Saddam never took any notice and decided to burrow underground. Still, no excuse for hanging the man publicly when he was riddled with cancer , and film it. Disgusting barbaric behaviour that was.  They would have done better to use President Saddam as a negotiator inside Iraq. Stoopid move to kill him.

  2. I suspect he knew that in due course Sadam's enemies in Iraq would have their revenge and therefore wanted him to leave the country. Perhaps it would have foreshortened the illegal war.

  3. Because Bush is a megalomaniac.

  4. He thought he was in a Hollywood western. Idiotic wasn't it?

  5. If he did leave then someone else would have been head of state.

The US might not have felt it necessary to invade Iraq.

Mostly though it was just posturing for the benefit of the rednecks.

  6. Same reason bin laden was allowed to leave the Tora Bora region.  They have to have a boogie man to continue the "war on terror".
