Question:

Why did Channel 7 wait until nearly 2am to show the women's Pole Vault? (Australia)?

I was watching the coverage all night and saw the pole vault going on in the background, while seven was showing the running athletics. Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbaeva acheived a world record and it must have been very exciting to watch, but we got saddled with a highlights package in the middle of the night. Surely it would have been far more entertaining to watch the pole vault as it was happening rather than endless heats of the running.

  1. Well, it seems for one, showing events in which Australians do not compete is not exciting and secondly, showing ads to attempt to recoup the investment made by a fiscally irresponsible network is a top priority.  Also I am a satellite foxtel subscriber who was previously annoyed that I could not receive the channel 7 signal. This will no longer be the case as I vow NOT to watch channel 7 again.

  2. i agree, but they do this to the most popular events and sports so that people will stay up and watch everything to see that event. Same goes with gymnastics!

  3. Yeah i really enjoy watching polevaulting, but sadly there are too many events to show all at once and they dont allow enough time to show all events individually.

And along with the commercials, one second a score on volleyball will be 10 - 8, after the commercials the game is practically over at 19 - 18 and you missed the whole thing.
