  1. There was a limited market for full size, RWD, full frame cars.  Only Ford still makes one and their biggest customers are police and taxis.  Not much profit in fleet sales.

too - Nobody in the 90's cared about gas mileage or small cars.  The economy was great then too.

  2. In 1997 GM discontinued production of all rear wheel drive full size vehicles and and the GM facility in Arlington TX that built the Caprice, Cadillac Fleetwood, and Buick Roadmaster was converted to SUV production.

  3. Plain and simple...Corporate greed killed the Caprice...GM wanted to make SUVs at the Arlington Texas plant because on average there was a profit of $10,000 or more off each Tahoe and Suburban versus maybe $2-3,000 profit off the Caprice and never mind the money they made off the fleet service for the taxicabs, police cars and government vehicles that the Caprice was used for...GM never saw a gallon of gas going for $4.00 and it came back to bite them in the rear ...

  4. they let Buick and Cadillac take the big car sales...no sense in..3 or 4 production lines making almost the same car.thats why they killed Olds.

  5. Because they were short-sighted!  The Caprice was the best car GM made--durable, efficient, good handling, roomy, easy to work on, comfortable, practical... I could go on and on.

No wonder their sales went down.

    Bye-Bye, B-Body.  And now, Bye-Bye GM!  (almost)

  6. The same reason all car manufactures stop producing any model, Low sales,Gas mileage, the economy and America's trend to buy smaller cars.
