  2. It was a sign of mourning epsecially with their pet cats. I think they stayed in mourning until most of their eyebrow hair came back.

  3. Shaving off the eyebrows was a sign of mourning. An entire family would do so if their pet cat died. Remember, the cat was a sacred animal to the Egyptians. the cat represented Bast (Bastet), and the family would remain in mourning until their eyebrows grew back.

  4. If their cat died they would shave off one or both eyebrows in honor of them

  5. When a pet died they expressed their sadness by shaving off their eyebrows.


  6. For the same reason that women today pencil in eyebrows, wear false eye-lashes and undergo other cosmetic procedures. It was the fashionable thing for upper class women to do. The slaves and lower class women didn't do it - they weren't concerned with fashion.
