He had bad acne scars and this bothered him ,ever since he was a teenager he had a slight complex about it,he ever wondered if he would get a girlfriend.So he decided to grow a beard and play guitar.He still didn't ever get a girlfriend though.

Maybe i'm talking about a different Eric Bell..your talking about the one with the beard aren't you.
