Question:

Why did Fox news just report that gas under $4.00 per gallon would be unhealthy for our nation?

I was just briefly watching Fox news and they had commentators saying that gas under $4.00 a gallon is bad for America. Who the heck can take them seriously. All they are doing is braiwashing people. So in effect they are saying that oil companies that are making record profits, like Exxon just announced yesterday, is healthy for America? Get real - what a bunch of idiots or do they have some ulterior motive ?That is what I want to find out.

What benefit would Fox news have in telling viewers this nonsense????

  1. It was a "Commentator" giving their opinion.

The answer depends on your point of view.

Low gas prices have the effect of reducing conservation efforts and delaying the inevitable switch to fuels that are more plentiful and less polluting.

Or if you are a conspiracy theorist:  Low gas prices mean that Oil companies are not making Obscene profits at your expense.

I lean more towards the first view but I am a realist that believes the reason prices are so high is we have a tight supply market and the producers know it.  They have little incentive to lower prices because they know every drop of inventory they can produce will be sold.

Oil Futures and commodities buyers know this too.  They continually buy forward contracts to sell you oil because they know it is unlikely there will be unsold inventory and this keeps the pricing pressure rising.

Everyone needs to understand that the Oil & Gas business has an extremely high barrier to entry.  That means that the investment cost for finding oil, procuring the rights to oil, political investment, nationalisation risk, transportation costs and refining cost are so high that it is prohibitive to just go out and get more and sell it.  It takes Billions of dollars to get new major oil fields online.

The best thing you can do is adjust your lifestyle and plan ahead.  In the future make a common sense decision concerning the type of transportation you need.  Think 20 years in the future.  Does the average 180 lb person need a 200 horse power engine and 5,000lb vehicle to move them around, or can you cut that in half and make do with something more fuel efficient.

The markets listen to only one thing and that is your response.  If you continue to use energy at the same level, prices will continue to rise.  If we as a nation or world significantly make the most efficient use of our resources, prices will come down.  It is that simple.

  2. First of all, do you know what show and who said it? Was it a Fox News host or guest? It makes a big difference. Or do you even know?

The beauty of Fox is that it allows for all view points, yes Liberals and Democrats too. So in order to make this claim, it means nothing unless you know who.

  3. I doubt that is what they said or meant. CNN on the other hand...

  4. Was it Fox News, or was it a guest/speaker on Fox News?

    Are you bothered by profits?

Do you like fringe benefits like medical insurance, retirement funds, etc.? (Yes, we call those "fringe benefits." NOT entitlements.)

Where do you suppose the funds come from to pay for those things?

What's the profit margin for your company? Do we need to investigate?

  5. Hmmm.

Must have been a liberal commentator, because the liberals are (tacitly) favoring high gas prices, since that prompts conservation efforts and is better for the environment.

Conservatives want cheaper gas prices. They want to drill for more oil to increase supply to drive prices down.

  6. What the Fox?  The corporate raiders Dems and Republicans are destroying America and they are financed by Jewish organizations and banks!

  7. Do you know that gas is extremely cheap in the United States in comparison to Canada and socialistic Europe? Fox News is break from all those liberal news channels, who spin facts and bash Bush left and right. I used to be a liberal democrat, who is now a conservative democrat.  I also like Glenn Beck's show on CNN headline News.

Gas prices will go down if an offshore drilling gets started. It's simple economics by increasing supply prices drop. And once against gas is way cheaper in United States than it is in Canada and Europe.

  8. Fox News is in on it. They are ridiculous traitors and try to scare the American public. Healthy for America/ Yea, for the rich elitist America which isn't America but is communist traitor America. gas will not drop if supply is increased. we have enough oil. Simple economics....bullshit.

The supply problem is completely fear-mongered and fabricated.
