  1.  Gavrilo Princip was part of an underground resistence group that opposed Archduke Franz Ferndinand's rule, and the occupation of Serbia. He assasinated the Archduke as an act of "patriotism" and also because he did not like him.

Gavrilo Princip was a member of the Black Hand, a group opposed to Austro-Hungarian government. They didn't want to be ruled by the Austro-Hungarian government, and they did not want to pay taxes to them. Princip also had tuberculosis and knew he was going to die soon. He wanted to die as a last patriotic act.

    Hope this helps!!
