Wow, that was a stupid move, provoking Russia like that. I'm not saying Russia isn't also at fault- they went overboard, but isn't Georgia the aggressor originally? Perhaps Russia is just exploiting an opportunity provided by the really stupid Georgia government. Perhaps they merely want to defend their citizens. That isn't my question. My question is, why the heck did Georgia do this idiotic move?

  1. Russia's definition of peace keeping  keeping peace out of the area!!

Yes the Georgians made the wrong move but only because Russia had it's troops massed on the border ready to attack and invade and they did not defend South Ossetia they attacked Georgia and it's infra structure!!

But Russia has been even more silly as it has harmed it's standing in the world.  Having stated there would be no ceasefire they had to climb down and stop in the face of world condemnation.

Russia has lost far more than Georgia in this silly killing spree!!

  2. I am wondering about that too.

I wonder what the world think of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili now.

  3. Because they are stupid. Who the h**l starts a war with Russia?

  4. Gerogia was protecting themselfs.   are you that stupid? they shoot second

  5. Unknown you are the stupid one. Georgia attacked and bombed south ossetia. Georgia attacked first. Georgia was the aggressor. Russia came in to help them because civilians of Russia and their peacekeepers were getting killed. Jeez. look at the news for god sakes.

  6. The Bear had been provoked by Georgia and thus had to pay a price!

  7. To epvuial,

Dance carefully in your pic or you'll fall down and Russia will not help you, He just helps no one, not even russian citizens, Russia just wanted a war to get more territory and putin escalated the situations on purpose. Today a Dutch camera operatorr was killed by russian bomb!!! Be careful Holland is going to bomb Russia and hide somewhere, don't you have a shelter?

I will think if I can find a place in my house for you

  8. 2 basic reasons combined into the decision:

    1. They underestimated Russia's response. With a new and unproven government in Russia, Georgia thought that they would not react quickly enough. They underestimated Russian firepower available on such short-term notice. When you get your faulty intelligence from the US who for some reason still believes Russia is using weapons from 1950's, it's easy to underestimate your opponent.

    2. They overestimated help from the US/Europe. Besides saying a few words there is nothing the West could have done to help Georgia. US did fly Georgian soldiers from Iraq and also sent in weapons to help, but outside of that there is nothing that the US could have done. Saakashvili was dumb enough to ask the US for "military involvement"... yeah WWIII buddy!!! I bet the US laughed long and hard at that request...
