If it was for a choice, answer me this, will there be a choice in heaven?

If God is all-knowing he would not need to test, so it couldn't be for a test.

  1. Why do violent countries and violent gods build weapons of mass destruction? Because it is part of their nature.

  2. The fable of the garden of eden is simple; avoid knowledge.

The tree they were forbidden to eat from was the tree of knowledge after all. Very simple message for very simple folk.

That's how religion works after all.

  3. no one can really say that God is "ALL KNOWING" as a matter of fact I rather think he chooses not to know every thing so that he can be surprised by his creation. Man has managed to create a great many things in the time from when he started till now & god may have given him the ideas & tools god did not force man to do them & man did them any way thus surprising god by man's own choice to do them!

  4. To show Adam and Eve that he's in control! That he's all powerful, they must fear his power, and they should obey his commands!

Adam and Eve had a close relationship with God as well, but when they disobeyed and ate the Forbidden Fruit, it showed that they didn't care that God was in control and loved them that much!

When God kicked them out they couldn't really hear his voice anymore, they noticed they were naked, and became sinful! They taught their kids about God, but they had 2 live with their sin!

Because God sent his son 2 die on the cross, he gave us the choice 2 abide in him, allow him 2 guide ur life, and b free from sin! He did that so we wouldn't have 2 carry the burden(guilt)of our sins! So y not love ur creator(God) 4 that?

  5. to see how stupid humans can be and to let us know how kinky he could be doing that kind of tests

  6. its for giving us free will

  7. The forbidden fruit serves as a plot device to advance the story into its main plotline. The whole scenario amounts to entrapment, as the only reason God even made the fruit was so they would eat it.

  8. It just goes to show that humans have freewill, and get to choose to do whatever they want.

  9. God didnt create the forbidden fruit, because god doesnt exist. The men who wrote the bible, wrote this very elaborate story, so that men could have dominance over women, and to keep women submissive.

  10. To see which one you would pick.

  11. ANON YMOUS has given you the correct answer.

Read again the account of the "beguiling" of Eve.  Look up the meaning of the word as it is used in the account of Eve, Adam, and thee "tree"//serpent.

Open your eyes. Eve bore twins-- Gen 4:2-again she bore his brother Abel.

    Abel & Cain..open your eyes.

  12. God did not create the forbidden fruit; it was only later that God made it forbidden by a decree.  Compare Genesis 2:9 and Genesis 2:16-17. From the beginning, there was no distinction: "every tree...is pleasure to the sight, and good for food" ( v. 9 ). That's why the so-called forbidden fruit was "good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes" (v.3:6). The account in Genesis 2:9 is a narrative in the past perfect tense. That fact made it look like it was forbidden from the very beginning.

I haven't been in heaven. But I have read of a man who had been there; but according to him, he " heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter." Who then could answer your question?

    No.God isn't all-knowing.

  13. Its an extended metaphor: good Christians should be wary of knowledge and intellect. They should surrender their will to god and know of nothing else.

  14. i think that there really wasn't a fobidden fruit but they used the forbidden fruit as a representive of people'

    s sins

  15. you do realize that the "forbidden fruit" is a metaphor for s*x. the reason he chucked out poor Adam and Eve is because they f.u.c.k.e.d each other.

PS: I'm answering this from a scholars view of the bible. I am a Darwinist and atheist,,, i dont believe in this ****!

  16. To tempt adam and eve. He knew they would eat it. Generally people will do what they're told not to.

  17. You asked a great question, one that deserves a serious and substantive answer.  It was a test of mankind's loyalty, obedience and faith.  God gave us all a gift that He will never take away - the freedom to choose.  He wants us to love, worship and serve Him of our own volition.  So He planted a tree of forbidden fruit in the garden so that Adam and Eve would, hopefully, make the right choice.  It is a risk that love had to take, just like you can't force the love of your life to love you back endlessly, or it wouldn't be love.  For more on this, check out the link below. God bless, and please ignore any frivolous responses to your deep query.

  18. He didn't. It's a fairy tale. It's like asking why Jack traded the cow for those magic beans.

Edit: Oh, and it has occurred to me that it's because he wanted it eaten... and Eve wouldn't have been so tempted to eat a forbidden vegetable.

  19. we have to be tested god has to test people to see if they will stay faithful til they die .god was testing adam and eve to see if they would do what he said.

  20. that is a metaphorical story to make a point.  God gave us options so we can choose and experience and learn.   and no, God does not send us to a torturing h**l for not making the best and highest choice.

if you did not experience the rain, you would not be so grateful for the sunshine.  if you never tasted chocolate, you would not know how good it is by someone telling you.  we are here for experience. it was for the opportunity to choose. we are still choosing whether or not to take, symbolically speaking forbidden fruit.  not literal fruit.

  21. who can answer why God do anything

  22. There are two trees in the garden. These two trees have more than a literal meaning. We are told that The tree of knowledge of good and evil is forbidden.

The day Adam eats of it he will surely die.

The tree of life is also in the midst of the garden if they eat of it they will live forever.

These two trees are obviously more than trees.

What is the knowledge of good and evil?

Where could a man gain knowledge of good and evil?

We get our knowledge of good and evil from God.

The law that God sent down to Moses is the knowledge of good and evil.

Why would God's righteous law kill man?

Because man could not live up to God's righteousness.

It is also the reason there was a tree in the midst of the garden called the tree of life.

This is God's mercy. Salvation through Jesus Christ.

This story Moses tells is of the two natures of God his righteousness and his mercy.

It is the story of man and his fall from God's glory and God's plan of salvation.

Why did God create the law?

To demonstrate to man his sin nature and to show man his need for a Savior which is the tree  of life.

Will we need free will in heaven? No those made perfect will not need to make a choice to sin.

The law wasn't a test, God knew tha answer but it was to reveal to man his sin so man could see his need for God.

  23. why does it bother you, you are neither a Jew nor a Christian.Just wanted to know which fruit(s) did your gods create? And why do you want to get in the Christian concept of Heaven you have your rebirth learn to accept what you deserve.

  24. The point of the story is not to avoid knowledge.  That is a simplistic reading done specifically to be insulting.

The point of the story is......

Adam and Eve had complete freedom of any food they wanted.  There was only one thing in the entire world that they weren't allowed.  One tree out of the entire garden was pretty insignificant, but the fact that there was one thing that they weren't allowed became too much of a temptation.  They forgot about all the stuff they were allowed to do, and it didn't take much prodding to go straight at it.

Just look at it.  They thought that it would kill them, and all eve had to hear is "Go ahead.  It won't hurt you."  All Adam needed is for Eve to hand it to him.

So the moral is mo matter how much someone tells you something isn't going to be good for you, if it is forbidden people are going to try it. This got them kicked out of the garden.  The point is that they satisfied their curiosity, but there are consequences to actions

As for heaven.    If it exists, I have no idea what it is like.  If it doesn't, who cares.

As for the test, any parent will tell you that simply telling children that someting isn't good for them isn't always enough.  Sometimes they just have to accept whatever the consequences of their actions are if you don't want a 23 year old who figures you'll still bail them out of everything.

Edit:  A lot of folks must have been fun in High School English class.  "Why did King Lear ......?"  "He wasn't real, you idiot.  You can't fail me for not caring why one fictional character did something to another fictional character.  Quit trying to put lies into the school system"

  25. To prove that women are greedy and rebellious creatures.
