Why did Hall lie about leaving a message on Staker's phone?

Barry Hall big notes himself to the media & the whole of Australia saying how remorseful he was for punching Staker.

He prattled on about how he'd left a message of apology on the phone of Staker.

It was news to Staker - he double checked, there was no message from Hall.

Even after the incident Hall displays the integrity of a dim-witted thug.

Lets face it, how would he get access to Staker's phone number anyway. Phone numbers are not handed out like lollies.

We will now hear all the rot about him wanting to be a better person, work for the poor, do voluntary work,apologise from a Public relations sheet,and the list goes on.

Why don't the Swans do themselves a favour, and give him his marching orders.After all Baz is hardly an asset to the club. I'm sure that there would be plenty of players who could step into his vacated spot permanently

Just like any other Footballers nightmare, no not umpires, headlines and news. Hes a nice guy, nice personality, nice smile, BAD GAME, why would he want more bad news to ruin his carreer, i agree,  bad move barry, lets get back on with the season, i gotta give it to him, Staker, well done you survived a Barry Hall punch, ex-boxer. Mate toughen up, Staker, this is football, you got a long way to go, as a Sydney fan i agree, seven weeks is fair, but give Barry a fair go, Ok. But well done Sydney, you've got Geelong, so be prepared, Roosy, Hall needs encouragement, get the team together and let him get on with his life and what do i have too say about the phone call, bad move, maybe a mobile next time .

He lied because at the time he was saying anything that popped into his head that may have lessened the revulsion thought by many about him because of his thuggery.

He tried to say he was remorseful & sorry (Yeah, sure - I still believe in the Tooth Fairy, as well!) for his actions.

He told a stupid lie & was not bright enough to cover his tracks. I wondered at the time how he had obtained Staker's phone number - if he'd said he tried to ring the WCE's number - well maybe.

He has just thrown further light on to how dumb he is actually is!

If thats the case, then he's an idiot, haven't heard this as yet, but if stakers said he didn't then i believe him.

why would hall say it?, who knows how he thinks, he's barry hall.  

i still reckon people are carrying on over this a bit too much, half of the players i saw play would never of played again if some people had there way, Mal Brown, playing for east perth, i think, they were, he belted the c**p out of carlton, i bet you any money you like that western australians would of loved it.  (i didnt care, i hated carlton more back then).

Hall lied about the message, i hate him with a passion, and 7 weeks is not enough. Every time he plays now he will get most boooooos from every crowd ever seen or heard. I would honestly not care if he droped dead right now, fingers crossed.  How can Ben cousins be banned for a year for risking his own life by taking drugs when Barry hall could have killed someone and only gets 7 weeks. Its an outrage.
