  1. He was a Free Agent and was free to sign wherever he chose. Perhaps he liked the situation in Chicago better than the one he was exposed to in Washington. With both teams on the rise, it will be interesting to look back at this signing in 5 years and dissect it. I am curious what it will look like in 5 years.

Do you know, as a CAPS fan.... what kind of goaltending you have in your Prospects?

  2. well for one thing they probabaly offered him a better deal than the caps...

and theres a lot of talk that khabibulin is out of chicago probabaly gonan get traded soon

  3. Money.  This was the last big contract he'll get, and maybe even the last regular contract he'll get.  The Blackhawks have a young core too with Toews and Kane, and it looks like their team is really committed to wining was well.  There were also whispers that Huet's wife hated DC and from what I've seen getting married is just like signing away any rights to decisions you would have had.  Personally I think Huet should have stayed here, but he got more money and more term in Chicago so you can't really blame him.  In reality Theodore's numbers aren't very different from Huet's we're all just attached to Huet because of the amazing run numbers he put up (he can't always play like that), and because we associate him with the amazing run the team went on.  We should do just as well with Theodore as we did with Huet.

  4. They paid him big bucks.

  5. $22.5MM and a chance to play. Washington only had about half of that available (see what they spent on Theodore).and are still looking for a long term goaltender.

  6. he wanted a long term contract

  7. bcuz the hawks are sweet

  8. The caps don't have Toews, Kane, Sharp, Campbell, Havlat, Keith, or Scotty Bowman.  Alexander Ovechkin can only do so much for your blueline from the slot.  I'm not saying he's not good defensively, I'm just saying you don't have much else in front of the net.  Mike Green will be good, but he's still young.  I'm guessing Huet left for money.  He's French, who knows why he made that decision.

  9. Good question.  I'd say money but the Caps would've offered the same to him.  Maybe he feels there's more opportunity in Chicago?

  10. He saw potential in Chicago, and he was offered a fat check.

  11. He probably felt no allegiance after seeing the way they shafted Ollie and figured they would do the same to him if the time came.
