Why did I feel like collapsing when i stood up?

I'm usually on a laptop lying down in my bed, but when i stood up this time everything was turning and shaking and was blacking out. I grabbed a handlebar on my bed to straighten myself up but then i started shaking a little bit so i sat down.

Why did this happen?

  1. hey... its low blood pressure... i get lighheaded and feel like im gonna pass out EVERY single time i stand up.. even if its just getting up of the couch... its nothing to worry about... just be careful... try getting up slower not so rushed.. also... eating a bit more salt can help IF it is low blood pressure.. be sure to check it.. .mine is 70/30... normal is 110/90

  2. This happens to me too! I'm always laying down with my laptop. When i get up i suddenly get horribly dizzy and can't walk. I think maybe it's because all of the blood rushes to one side of the body?

  3. That happens to me all the time but that's because I take amphetamines for my ADHD and It raises your heart rate and blood pressure so if you take anything like that then that might be why...

  4. it's nothing to be worried about, that happens to me all the time. if you get up to fast from lying down the blood rushes to your head to quick or something and makes you dizzy. just make sure  you get up a little slower cause i have fallen like 5 times

  5. It's happened to me before. You probably aren't eating enough or not eating so healthy. Drink water too...it happened to me when it was really hot....it's like the vision slowly regains w/ in the minute...I know the feeling. Get a good healthy snack and drink water, also try to avoid lots of heat if possible.

  6. If you were laying down for a while and then stood up, you probably stood up too quickly, which made you feel the way you did.

  7. Kiddo, don't give out your email... you are asking for weirdos!

It could be low iron, low blood pressure, inner ear issue, low blood sugar. Never ignore presyncope (almost fainting) or syncope (fainting). Do see your doctor about this.

In the meantime, stay hydrated and add a small amount of sodium to your diet... but do tell your doctor.
