I sold 2 DVD' on ebay for a total of $18.25. But when I transferred my money from PayPal to my bank account it was only $17.12. I know it's not much, but still...why is this? It's weird...

  1. They take money out for transactions because of the type of account you have.

  2. Ebay/Paypal takes a chunk of every purchase. Only way to stay in business.

  3. Paypal processes credit card and/or bank transactions.  Credit cards take like 5% of the purchase price for processing the transaction.  Paypal and/or Ebay may take some % as well (I don't know; I've only bought things there, not sold).

  4. If you signed up as a business account, meaning you can have more transactions than a regular free account you must pay a certain percentage of the amount sent to you.  You can see the fee schedule here:

    https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr...

  5. Paypal takes certain percentage off when you sell your items on ebay on top of ebay fees.  This is the reason I decided to open store at www.silkfair.com.  Free store and unlimited listings for free, and only 3% final sales fee.  Great e-commerce solution, so much less than ebay and paypal fees combined.  Very easy to use.

  6. Ebay and PayPal's nicknames are:

FeeBay and Pay-up, Pal... nobody rides for free.
