I replied to a question- I answered, I don't know the answer- they said the violation was because I didn't answer the question! The answer was, I didn't know the answer! How can this be a violation?

I am going to request a jury trial by my peers! Who wishes to be on it?

It only happens on current events in the British mob section.

(no offense meant)

    Q. What is considered cheating?

    A.  Most people who cheat know they are cheating—they’ve created multiple accounts to gain points in various ways, or negatively target other members. However, many people don’t understand that “point-gaming” and "placeholding" are also considered cheating.

The following are some common ways people attempt to point-game or place-hold:

        * Answering questions with only “Thanks for the two points”, “Pick me as best”, “IDK” (I don’t know), “Do a search”, etc., without including a legitimate answer.

        * Posting questions that offer points for any reason other than for the best answer. For example, “Free points for the first person to post an answer?” or “Make me laugh and get 10 points?” It’s OK to say you’ll give 10 points to the person with the best answer if coupled with a legitimate question.

        * Posting “Star my question?” without including a legitimate question.

        * Answering with "edit" or "." or any such answer to in order to control your place on the question page.

  2. well you could've not answered at all if you didn't know the answer why put "i don't know" to a question that doesn't help a person out so its pointless to put anything.

  3. Because Y!A is considered a knowledge seeking forum, answering questions with "I don't know" is not considered a valid form of response according to their Terms & Conditions.  They consider it point-gaming.

  4. Well, it wasn't me.  I come up here to look at what's new, and discuss events, and opinions..

But Barnacle Bill has it right.  Someone reported you for "not an answer" - but more like, they didn't Like your answer is what happened.  You know this is a touchy category.

Down in the Yahoo Answers section I hear it alot from this category, but believe it or not, Religion & Spirituality and Rap & Hip Hop seem to be the "hot" spots right now to avoid.  Oh, and the dog section, for some Odd reason.

Dogs?!  That one floored me when I heard about all of them reporting each other.  The people, not the dogs. ;op

  5. Happens to me quite a bit, but than i tend to po the whacky left

  6. You cannot win.  Yahoo can do whatever they want.

  7. Join the club.  I got kick off because of a question about terrorists going free from Canada that killed one of our guys.  They did not approve of the answer.  I had like 5500 points over a years time.

  8. I have seen questions in The politics section deleted after I have given a reply. Questions about rich people and taxes.

The reason it was given is Yahoo thought your reply not worthy and so gave you a violation instead of deleting it.
