Why did I just vomit?

Question

I took Hydrocodone Bitartrate & Acetaminophen Tablets, USP 5 mg/ 500mg. I had to take 2 pills every 4 hours a day...I took the two pills at 8:00 p.m. and I take the next two at 12:00 a.m. or whenever I wake up and I feel pain...Was it the medicine or what? I just started feeling bad after I took the medicine and ate...I also took a Tyneol pill before I went to the hospitial. I did call the hospital and ask if I could take them and they said,

"Yes"; Even though I took they Tyneol. I'm not preggy or anything and don't plan to be...Why did I feel like that?

Sounds like you had too much..even though it says every four hours if your not feeling pain don't take them until you are. If you still get sick then I would go back to the doctor and make sure you are taking the right medicine and the right dosage for you. Hope you feel better.

pain medicine has effects that deal with your stomach, like i took some liquid loertabs after i was in a crash and it made me feel majorly hungry and after i ate i was fine- my theory is that strong drugs always have that effect if there is too much or too little food in your system.

my advice is to eat, then wait 30 minutes and take your pills- it worked for me...

but you should probably just ask a doctor if it happens again, you may be allergic to the medicine or it just wont work for you...

at any rate, a certified medical practioner's opinion is a lot better than a 14 yr old sophmore...

It sounds like you are just having a bad reaction to the pain pills.

As long as you are taking the recommended dosages it is impossible for you to overdose.

Neither the tylenol or the antibiotics do that.

Some people just can't take certain pain pills. You might want to ask your doctor for a different prescription.

Any opiate like hydrocodone will produce nausea.  It's likely mediated via the area postrema.

u mostly likely feel that way because the pills maybe made of or with something that your body doesn't agree with my mom has gone through 4 types of allergy pills and i cant take lortab by certain manufactor's because im allergic to it take da pills with u to ur doctor tell them wahts has been happening after u took em and he should be able to recomend a dif brand or kind of pain pill

You did not mention one word why it was prescribed for you except "pain". Did you have surgery? What sort of pain do you have that you have to take 2 tablets every four hours? They're supposed to be "as needed only".

I suppose you took them on an empty stomach, too, didn't you?

By the way, tylenol & acetaminophen are the same thing. You basically took a bit too much of it when you added an extra tablet of tylenol to your regimen.

You should call the physician who originally prescribed this for you.
