Why did I not get approved for a Pell Grant??

I am an indepenent student (28 yrs old), made $18,000 and I am not eligible for a pell grant... did I fill out the fasfa wrong, or does that sound correct? Thanks!

  1. Call them up and ask them.  Did you fill out the FAFSA too late?  Usually, you need to fill it out ASAP, as in January... otherwise funds run out.  Call them to make sure.  Also, apply for a TAP award, if you haven't already.  (Edit - I believe TAP is only for New York.  If you live in NY, apply for it.  Otherwise, see if your state has an equivalent.)
