Question:

Why did I suddenly gain 5kg over night?

I have recently started tack and field training again for the first time after the summer holidays. We did a lot of exercises that strengthened the muscles and afterwards I was completely dead and aching. We had training 3 times that week and the strange thing is that when I came home after the 3rd training I weighed 5kg more that a week before! And it is not fat - I have not eaten anything out of the ordinary and have been doing exercise all week. My mother says it is just muslce but I don't think so because then when I weighed myself 2 days later I was suddenly 2kg less again!! This morning I had gained again after I had another training session!..... I don't understand anything!

Could it be water in the muscles or something, since I have not trained for a while.? What should I do - I feel so bloated and fat!

  1. ugh it could be that you eat really late at night??? that's if you do eat late at night but yea i don't know if i helped any


  2. Well in your training fat disappears and muscles are formed !!!!

    Well it the thing is that muscles are a lot heavier than fat !!!

    So that is probably the reason y you are getting heavier !!!!

    And also if you are having your period ,,, women get heavier during their periods !!!

  3. I think your scale is not accurate. Mine sometimes varies by 3-5 pounds (around 2kg) during the day.

  4. Water:

       weigh yourself right after a tough workout...  2kg can be gone.  Drink some more... keep on with the workouts and drink enough to hydrate the tissues that now need extra water for building muscle, 2kg are added to the base level.  You have 4kg right there.  It would be surprising to add more than 1kg in a week.  

       A good question is "what is the purpose of the training?"  Worry about weight after you establish your base training of 6 weeks.

  5. okay if it was overnight you must have recently eaten before bed or drank something fatty without going to the bathroom.. so it stored as fat cells. be more cautious about eating times.

  7. I wouldn't be worried, our weights always fluctuate throughout the day. Could be water/food you recently eaten, I guess.

  8. weigh ur self every 2 times a week dont go by every day cuz thats not the right way to do it.

    do not be discouragerd by this.keep going!!

    it can not be muscle,not after so litttle time.although i know you feel you have done this forever!!!
