Why did John McCain claim that he would reduce taxes and that Obama would raise them?

I've read both tax plans and McCain was outright lying about Obama raising taxes. Obama will cut taxes for 95% of Americans and completely eliminate them for retirees making less than 50K. Was McCain outright lying or was he just talking to the rich lobbyists in the front rows when he said Obama would raise their taxes?

I don't know what you are reading, but Obama does plan to increase taxes.  McCain could did not lie.  Don't you think it would have been blatantly obvious if he did?  C'mon, he isn't in High School and doesn't play high school games as such.

Because it is the oldest GOP claim in the book and like all of their other "arguments" against democrats they are ridiculous lies meant to take advantage of voters caught up in the media circus frenzy.

Simple answer===  Dem stand for BIGGER GOV  and more taxes (socialism). Small Businesses  will be taxed far more under obama plain causing lower wages.



Rep stand for SMALLER GOV  and keep you money/lower taxes,    plain and simple.

You're right, but most people are not as diligent as you are in doing research and finding out the facts for themselves.  They just believe everything their candidate or the right wing noise machine says, and then they come on this site and regurgitate it.  No thinking involved.

Obama can't cut taxes, and make his plans work, taxes will have to be raised to pay for it....

McCain on the other hand intends to cut wasteful programs, eliminating the need for more money.....

Much like Sarah did in Alaska when she sold the state jet, and began using commercial flights instead... buying tickets was cheaper than maintaining the aircraft....

That Obama would raise any taxes is stupid. The federal budget was 3 trillion dollars last year. And Congress knew they were short when they authorized it. That's $10K for every man, woman and, child, legal, and illegal living in the USA. Did you get your $10K worth? I know I didn't.

Stop and think for a moment. IF Obama lowers taxes on 95% of the people and eliminates the retirees you mentioned. Who's going to get hit? Do you really think the top 5% have that much income? If that is the case then Prado was all wrong.

Is he going to hammer businesses? The companies in the US have the second highest tax rates in the world. And companies, even small companies like the one I work for are moving everything they can (even jobs and home offices)outside the US to get away from high taxes. What's Obama going to do raise corporate taxes so he can say they made the US #1.

OBTW Both Obama and McCain are wrong. The President does not control taxes. Congress does.

I really dont care about the taxes. But i am very worried about what cap and trade will do to the usa when the dems pass it next year. I will double everyones power bill and add 1.50 to a gallon of gas.

I think he mean't that Obama would raise taxes on the rich, b/c Obama keeps saying that. Plus there is no way Obama could cut 95% of taxes, how would anything get paid, like medicaid ?

Obama will raise total taxes.

He will lower them for the poor, but raise them on your employers, small businesses, anyone who sells their college fund or 401 k or house, etc.

Obama's tax plan will cause massive unemployment as money is moved out of the US economy into a more tax friendly environment.

this is what democrats don't understand.

Obama's plan is bread and circuses-  throw the masses what they want, not what is needed..

I don't know if McCain will really lower taxes but Obama will have to raise taxes across the board to pay for everything he is promising. Universal Health Care, His Global Poverty Act etc. I know you don't believe everything McCain says, so why are you accepting Obama's word that easily?
