Why did John McCain pick a mother of 5 with a Down Syndrome baby?

If elected, Palin must move her family all the way from Alaska to D.C. As VP she would be attending cabinet meetings, presiding as President of the Senate, be a regular advisor to the President and even meet with heads of state or attend official ceremonies when the President can't.

She had a Down Syndrome baby just months ago....shouldn't this disabled child and her large family be her first priority? As VP she will be not only extremely busy and stressed BUT she will be in line for the presidency which is even more demanding.

Did McCain put political gain before principle when he chose this dark horse?

  1. Yes political gain. He is doing anything and everything to get into the oval office. Just like the news flash a few minutes age he is trying to get Ron Paul to have his followers to jump on his band wagon. And I believe there will be more chicanery coming from the McCain camp.

  2. She needed the Health care that is given to the executive branch in order to pay for her child's health care needs oh that and the nanny who will raise her children.

  3. well then i think he pick her b-cuz of the fact she is a women a he wants to attack women voters

  4. I find it offensive that Obama supporters want to "fire" her from the ticket because of family events beyond her control.  That's discrimination against families of disabled children.  If she can handle the job of Governor and have an 80% approval rating who is REAL and not a snotty elitist.

  5. mcnut was desperate for a female candidate   he should have taken a little more time in choosing lol

  6. Because any woman that can handle such a family and her career, is an admirable, efficient, capable and amazingly strong woman.  It's wrong to judge her as a mother, because with a disabled child and more children you need to hold on to your job to support them and to afford the best care and therapy for the disabled child.  You don't know this woman and don't know what she feels or goes through.  As a mother, you want to give your children the best and not poverty and misery.

  7. Yes, potential political gain obviously came first.  He was trying to court women voters (Hilary supporters) by choosing a woman VP candidate - but did he pick the best candidate?

If it looks like he picked a woman just to sway Hilary supporters, that's pandering, and it could easily backfire on him.  I don't think Palin's baby will be a problem, as much as her expected grandchild...

She's obviously a supporter of Republican values, like being pro-life, but apparently her daughter practices another set of "family values"...
