Hello everyone. I know everything about scopes trail(monkey trial) and how john scopes is still important in our society. But for one of my project, I need to know few major reasons as to why he believed in evolution.

Do any of you have any idea about why he believe in Evolution?

  1. At the time of the trial, John Scopes probably neither believed nor disbelieved - he admitted that he didn't really know anything about evolution. He also didn't teach evolution for the same reason. He did however agree to go to trial (for teaching something he never taught) merely to test the law.

  2. It is not a matter of belief, young lady and Scopes did not believe in evolution, but was, like us all, convinced of the evidence.

Have you ever read about a person saying, " my son would never commit murder ", when the evidence that he did is overwhelming. That is why we must be convinced by the evidence and not persuaded by sly assertion masquerading as belief.
