  1. He's a backyard brawler that only fought people he knew he could win so he went into UFC to try and prove he is the toughest around. Once he comes up against a professional fighter he will be knocked out and hopefully took down a couple of peg's.

  2. Kimbo isn't in the UFC, and I really doubt that the UFC would have him. He is fighting in Elite XC which is one of the smaller MMA organizations.

He is basically a backyard brawler, but he has hooked up with Bas Rutten and been training with him I guess for about a year or so now. I'm not a Kimbo hater, but I'm still quite a ways from being convinced that he belongs. Bas obviously sees something in him to make him think that he is worth his time and effort to train him, so we will just have to wait and see how it all pans out.

As to your dad liking him, well maybe your dad just likes big wild sluggers. That's one of the things that makes MMA so great; no matter what type of fighter or fighting you prefer you can get it all in mma.

  3. he is huge and intimidating. he needs to work on stamina but he is a good fighter. he has power and funny chest hair patterns. i think he's pretty cool. he became famous for those backyard brawls and ufc probably saw this as an oppertunity to get more viewers. he is a publicity stunt and i hope to have the time to watch and see if it plays out well

  4. He is in EliteXC, not the UFC. Big difference.

They are a start up organization, they essentially used Kimbo's appeal from the internet to market him and their organization. They also picked up Gina Carano as a face for their organization.

He got into EliteXC simply from his fights on the internet, and them wanting to cash in on his internet fame, mainly because he decided to start training for MMA, and was shopping himself around and EliteXC was the only people who would pick him up.

He did it because it is obviously more financially lucrative then what he was doing previously.

  5. He's in Elite XC, not UFC (different, unrelated MMA organizations).

He went to Elite XC because it pays infinitely better than the $500-$1000 or so he was getting paid to bare knuckle street fight and because he has some decent raw ability as a fighter/athlete (he was a monster of a HS football player besides being a pretty decent street fighter).

He was a backyard brawler, but now he's making an effort to learn MMA.  He's still far from a polished MMA fighter (he's only been formally trained for about 1 year), but he's still a big strong guy with granite fists who can knock people out if/when he hits them.

I like to think of him as a kind of 30-year-old Mike Tyson of MMA....he's a 1-trick pony but I still watch him because IF he connects, the other guy is going down.

  6. I think he's in K-1, not UFC.  Different organizations.

  7. He didnt you d**n loser...please get smarter...MMA is a sport, UFC is a company....have you seen Dana white and Kimbo together, no....Elite XC is NOT UFC

  8. HAHAHAFART.

Kimbo is in EliteXC.  Not the UFC.  He does not have the skills to fight against anyone of his weight class in the UFC.  And probably not LHW.   In fact there are some MW's in the UFC who could easily beat Kimbo.

Nevermind that - Kimbo got famous fighting in the backyard videos on Youtube, Brickfist, etc. and Gary Shaw (fight promoter for Elite XC) thought a lot of people would pay to watch him fight professionally. Kimbo is a sideshow act more than a fighter.  I admit he is trying to learn more skills, but he doesn't deserve to be the headling of any fight card.   Kimbo has a contract because he was a well known name, not because of his skills.

  9. BOOO

  10. It's all about the benjamins.

  11. Underground popularity fuels his marketability. Slice needs to get paid like anybody else. Reality bros. etc.

  12. all about the money buddy, not a lot of money in backyard brawling, but a lot more in the ufc. hope i helped!!
