Why did Korean abandon Hanja despite the fact that Hanja is a useful character ?

korean did not actually abandon hanja...they are still using hanja in present

according to the korean history korean just adopted hanja from chinese it was in 1443 that (korean alphabet )hangul was invented by king sejong...by that time korean use hanja in government documents and public newspapers

but because many koreans have hard time studying hanja they eventually use  only hangul...now adays newspapers are also written in hangul because many cannot read hanja
