Why did Kyle Reimers (bombers) get the RisingStar nom for round 16 when Bradd Dalziell (lions) so much better?

Bradd Dalziell (lions):

Disposals: 32 (!!)

Marks: 7

Tackles: 5

So BD won kicks, handballs, disposals, marks and tackles…

So why did KR win the nomination??

The player must be under the age of 21 at January 1 of that year and cannot have played more than 10 games at the start of the season and cannot have been suspended by the AFL or state league before hand.

Now according to my research... BD meets this criteria so why on earth was he not nominated??

Also.. BD beat Simon Black's beep test record at the lions pre-season training AND its possible that he now holds the record 4 most possessions in a debut game!! (not sure bout that last 1 so correct me if im wrong... its just what i have heard)

just a quick little thing also: KR is the kid with the ugly orange boots... how can u reward him???

KR kicked 3-4 goals didn't he? And maybe because he has played more games and the AFL saw how consisted he was they rewarded him for his effort. If his orange boots are so ugly why are half my friends wearing them? if BD keeps his performance up he will get nominated don't worry about that.

I see where you are coming from with your stats, and it does look like Dalzeil had a better game, but sometimes the amount of possessions you get doesn't reflect on how well you played. Sure, it's good to get the ball, but it's how you use it that counts.

I'm sure that with stats like Dalzweil's though, it's only a matter of time before he gets nominated :)

It was a quite impressive debut, but of all his possessions 27 were uncontested and he made 7 errors. Razzle Dazzle had 5 clearances and 4 inside 50's which is very impressive, I'd say Reimers got the award for consistency over the season.

well Bradd Dalziell did play against the eagles and they arent that good a team at the moment though so u gotta take that into account...

Don't stress , Reimers has played more games, Dalziell played a brilliant first up game, if he remains consistent, he will receive his nomination, it will come, both players are deserving of the award.

It also depends on previous games and the way the player has played. In this case Reimers played against Richmond and was on edwards who didnt even get 10 toucher. Dezeil was playing against West Coast and was underestimated by west coast.

So they may think its a fluke wheras reimers has been playing great footy all year round.

You have to play well all the time to get the RisingStar nom not just on that round.

Reimers got the round 16 nomination because he missed out by the skin of his teeth twice before and that, combined with the excellent game he played in round 16, got him over the line.

His performance included not only his own goals but facilitating others' as well, and being an active defender when needed. He is a very mature youngster and if he continues as he started, he will be one great footballer.

Yes, I am a bomber fan, as you can guess.

I have seen your lad Dalziell play only once, and that on TV - missed the actual Brisbane game due to the rotten cold all of Melbourne has copped - and I think he has the potential to be another above average player. He may get his RS nomination this year or next - he is still eligible next year? but each week there is one nomination, and rarely only one good potential nominee.

And orange boots have nothing to do with it, apparently the other color available in this style is lime green according to the footy record, and Reimers would not like to look like an umpire, would he?

I dont know great question, well after that i would say BD deserves it but Rymers played a great game, and rymers has orange boots, everyone can see him, they are actually the same boots as mine, they are awesome

Like other posters have mentioned, it's about consistency and how long KR has kept up his good form. I am sure that BD will get nominated soon, if he keeps up his good form.

Simple, he has been playing decent footy over several weeks, it's not based on one game. If Dalzeill continues to play good footy he will be rewarded as well.

The comment about the boots is fine, but they have nothing to do with "how could they reward him"  why would you say that?

Haven't read any one else's comments but if they have all said BD will get his rising star nom, then they are right, he just has to keep playing well,  i think you heard right about most possys on debut too. good effort, if he plays well against the Roos, i think you'll find it's his turn.
