Question:

Why did Le Bec become casual?

I used to love the privilege of being the only person allowed to wear jeans and shirts to Le Bec Fin in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I loved that place! I knew every back room and kitchen and waiter or waitress in Georges restaurants. I knew Chef pretty well too, including several spine-shuddering kisses on my hand from him or on my cheeks. I was even given Le Bec Fin and Georges baseball caps from the staff too. I spent 8 birthdays there with my friends and my dad used to go to that restaurant once a week

Now Le Bec is casual and everyone can wear jeans and tee shirts.

In my opinion, Chef is going to close down Le Bec soon. I think he made it casual as a final attempt to appeal to a younger audience (look what he did with Georges, that used to be called La Ma Perrier and now I've stopped going there since that too became casual).

What is the real reason behind Le Bec's change?

  1. Le Bec hasn't been cool since the 80's. No one goes there anymore, and I guess they figured taking a casual turn could only help a dying business.

I'm surprised that you seem to be disappointed at casual restaurants, yet you take pride in dressing poorly while you were there.
