Why did Lithuania join the EU and what positives/negatives has this brought?

  1. well their economy is going to be benefited once it adopts the euro, not to mention it's already benefiting from the free trade. the only real negative i can see is loosing the lita. oh well

  4. Lithuanian join in EU because a long time she was in Soviet union. and Russian i think was stupid, because Lithuania was only her crumb and Germany and Russian "lords" wanted share Lithuanian. LOL. and Lithuanian is in Europe centre. Lithuanian join not alone- with her join Latvian and Estonia too.

  5. Why?...To rejoin the ranks of European Nations after centuries of occupation and oppression. Realization? Only time will tell. Positives? From LT perspective, possibly a clear message to Russia that Lithuania does not suffer at all from seperation anxiety. What has Lithuania gained thus far?
