Why did Love Bird die suddenly?

My daughters love bird did not have any sign of illness. He was cherping, eating, looking great. He wasn't old. He just died. What could have happened to him?

  1. I agree that it could have been anything that killed your bird. An all seed diet, scented room spray, stress or an undiagnosed disease/virus.

    Whenever a bird just "drops dead" I would get an autopsy done on the bird. I would not be comfortable until I knew why the bird died.


  2. Lots of things.  Tumor, kidney or liver failure, ate something toxic (coffee, chocolate, avocado, fruit or veggie with pesticides on them etc).

  3. They can die of so many different things so it's really hard to say.  One warning though, birds are very sensitive to the fume put out by heated non-stick pans.  When those non-stick pans/pots are heated on high, it puts out odorless fume that we can't smell that can kill birds instantly.

  4. Don't beat yourself up. Birds are very frail. I have a peach face love bird and they have great personalities. I'm sure they are heartbroken, but it could have been something so very minor.

  5. Birds hide illness until they die.

    This is very sad.  Hope you find out the reason so it does not happen when you get a new bird.
