If a state was to secede from the union, they would join back within 10 years because of the financial benefits. Let it go, let it come back. It should literally have zero effect on the rest of the states - unless there is some socialist connection where we RELY on another states money and cannot depend on our own!

Interesting though I do not put much stock in truth of alot of media.  However, that could very well be true.  I believe that although everyone from heir party is saying they picked her for certain reasons, lets be honest and speak about how it looks.  It looks like they picked a candidate that would appeal to women and shore up conservatives that love her story.  That is how it looks, all other things aside.  They know it as well as we do.  I think a story about that or at least the truth of that would be more compelling.

The article states that both Mr. and Mrs. Palin were members of this group in the mid 90's and she herself joined the Republican Party when she ran for Mayor in 1996.

I've been aware of the Independence Party of Alaska for many years, they are proud of what they are all about and don't try to hide themselves, have been in the news over the years.

I'm an Independent, middle of the road for the most part and honestly, I don't think Senator McCain's campaign vetted her properly, if very much at all.

I get a sense there will be more to come before there's not and while this is Senator McCain's problem and up to his campaign to tend to, one has to wonder if the National Enquirer is going to vet Mrs. Palin more so than anyone else.

I don't think it would be very hypocritical at this point to continue on with the negativity out of their campaign regarding Senator Obama and Senator Biden having less experience combined compared to Mrs. Palin. That just appears like such a desperate attempt to explain what is going on within their campaign....

Now it's on the news that she only got her first passport in 2007 so the investigative reporters are looking into if she's ever left the country other than the one trip to Kuwait....

This would serve to only point out that the McCain campaign can not afford to continue being hypocritical as it has been.

My thoughts, are that Mrs. Palin would be more suited to continue the fine job that she has been doing for Alaska. She clearly has a family that needs her time, an infant to tend to, a daughter that needs her continued support and I think that her entire family needs her far more than Senator McCain does....

I am not in any way attempting to make a sexist remark, being an older female, I am glad when I see women making it. I just think in this instance, Senator McCain did not show wise judgment in his decision making and has left me wondering what his motives were.

A few more years would have given Mrs. Palin the opportunity to put some things behind her....
