In recent years, McCain has criticized earmarks requested by his running mate, Sarah Palin.

"In 2001, McCain's list of spending that had been approved without the normal budget scrutiny included a $500,000 earmark for a public transportation project in Wasilla. The Arizona senator targeted $1 million in a 2002 spending bill for an emergency communications center in town -- one that local law enforcement has said is redundant and creates confusion."

"McCain also criticized $450,000 set aside for an agricultural processing facility in Wasilla that was requested during Palin's tenure as mayor and cleared Congress soon after she left office in 2002. The funding was provided to help direct locally grown produce to schools, prisons and other government institutions, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense, a nonpartisan watchdog group."

  1. Mccain's  flip-flop... or too old to remember

  2. Double standards.

  3. McCain's so much of a maverick, he doesn't even agree with himself!

Except he's not a maverick: He votes with George Bush 95 percent of the time.  And Palin would probably top that.  The sidekick now has his own sidekick.

  4. thats why he is so attracted to her...it's her pork!

  5. Very simple. That was the old (no pun intended) John McCain, who was against the Bushies and against waste. This is the new McCain, kind of a Stepford husband of sorts, who has sold his soul to the right wing corporatists. He is now in bed with the very people he once loathed.
